After restoration, care should stay simple and regular
New or restored automotive upholstery does not need a build-up of products. It mainly needs dust removal, cleaning with a solution compatible with its finish and regular observation of contact areas.
Start by removing dust
Dust and small debris can act as abrasives in folds and rubbing areas. A soft cloth or brush removes them before any damp cleaning.
Clean without soaking the leather
- test the product on a discreet area;
- work in small sections;
- use a product suited to the covering’s finish;
- wipe residue away and let the surface dry naturally.
Monitor contact areas
Bolsters, cushion edges, steering wheels and armrests receive more rubbing. An opening seam, sticky surface or localised colour change should be checked before the area becomes more fragile.
Avoid overly aggressive products
Solvents, household degreasers, abrasive sponges and direct heat can alter the surface or colour. If you are unsure, ask for advice based on the actual material installed during the restoration.
