When the parts cannot be dropped off at the workshop, a carrier makes a remote project possible. A few precautions before shipping help with assessment, reduce the risk of knocks and make it easier to identify every part.
Take photos before dismantling
Take wide and close-up views before removing anything. Photos show the position of the parts, contact areas, fixings and details to preserve. They also provide a useful record of the condition before transport.
Protect the parts without trapping moisture
- remove loose objects and accessories;
- protect corners and fragile parts with suitable packaging;
- avoid sealing a damp part in airtight packaging;
- group small parts and label them clearly.
Include the project information
The parcel should be linked to the customer name, vehicle or furniture and the list of parts. Include photos, the description of the problem and the restoration goals so the workshop can connect the parcel to the brief.
Check dimensions and the return journey
Measure the parts before shipping and mention access or handling constraints. The return should be considered from the first exchange, especially for several seats, bulky parts or a professional project.
